
23 Sep Homemade Veggie Bean Burgers
Nothing in your cupboard to eat? No problem! Try these simple to make bean burgers that only require beans, flour and some spices!
They are so quick and easy to make and are nice and filling without the need for any meat. They taste delcious on their own, or a perfect substitute for a meat burger at a BBQ.
Homemade Veggie Bean Burgers
Makes 2 burgers
– 1 tin mixed bean salad (in water)
– 1/2 tsp paprika
– 1/2 tsp cumin
– 1 lemon zest
– 3 heaped tbsp wholemeal plain flour (or alternative flour)
– Pinch of salt
– Extra Virgin Olive Oil
– 1/2 finely chopped red onion
– Rinse the mixed bean salad with fresh water and place in the blender.
– Add the remaining ingredients into the blender.
– Blend the ingredients until everything has mixed together and it begins stick.
– Empty the mixture from the blender and onto a floured surface.
– Roll the mixture out to create two burger shapes (pictured above).
– Heat a frying pan on a medium heat and add a tsp olive oil.
– Place the burgers onto the frying pan and cook on both sides for around 5 minutes (pictured below).
– Remove from the pan and serve.
Serving suggestion – Place inside a wholemeal pitta with salad, or serve with some bulgar wheat and corn on the cobb!
